We walked out into the brisk cold air hand in hand at the Bambek train stop. Dennis looked for a sign to get us going in the right direction. “I think you are really going to like this place” he told me. We walked past a museum and into an old industrial looking area and hidden there was our final destination, T.R.U.D.E.

What is T.R.U.D.E?
(Besides one of Hamburg’s Best Kept Secrets of course!)
T.R.U.D.E is a fabulous restaurant, bar, and cafe. It is home to a variety of delicious foods and spectacular cocktails, and also has a one of a kind history.
Nestled in what use to be an old rubber factory, T.R.U.D.E ’s name T.R.U.D.E is derived from the nick name of the worlds largest shield tunneling machine that helped construct the Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg. The wheel to this fantastic piece of machinery lives as a monument in the T.R.U.D.E courtyard!
Lively, but still intimate enough to be able to have conversations with your friends!
My Meal: Cheese Burger
I customized my cheese burger with jalapeno and spicy BBQ sauce on the side. The burger was fabulously cooked to perfection and the burger buns were just right! Not to soft, but not to firm. (I know they are just buns, but for me in Hamburg it’s difficult to find buns that are not too soft and fall apart or get wet from the burger juice.)
My Favorite Cocktails
(a local drink) Cachaca, Lemon, Lime Juice, and Sugar
Basilikum Explosion –
Basil, Gin, Lemon, Lime, and Ginger Beer!
If you are looking for a place with great quality food, spectacular drinks, and an enjoyable and unique atmosphere T.R.U.D.E is the place to go and is one of Hamburg’s Best Kept Secrets!
