I hope you all had a fabulous Monday! I know it’s pretty easy to get the Monday Blues, myself included, but you have the power to make your day great! Mine started off a bit rocky.  I woke up with a stiff neck unable to really look left or right.  I probably looked rather funny today turning to look at things from my waist instead of turning my neck. Even though I felt rather crappy today, I made a conscious choice to have a good day.  Which I think it very important to remember.

You choose how you want to feel about your day even if you do have the Monday blues! We can all harp on the fact that it is the beginning of a new work week, but that’s one small thing in the grand scheme of things. If you look at all of the positives in your life often times the positives outweigh the negatives, and even when the balance isn’t in your favor you can still find gratitude for anything in your life. Just think about it, you woke up today. That’s something to be thankful for. This is one of the many lessons I’ve learned from my family.  Gratitude has been a common theme of someone who I look up to, Rachel Brathen, yoga girl. Though I’ve never met her in person, her podcast “From the Heart” reminds me to be grateful, work through tough times, and that I can do anything.

And at this moment it feels like a bit of a rough patch, not being able to move my neck, long distance relationship for some of the year, adulting for real for the first time,  work, bills and having a new puppy. It can be overwhelming at times, but then I remember all of the things I’m grateful for.  I now appreciate what my neck/body does for me every day.  I’m grateful how much my sweetie loves me and me him, the life skills I’m learning from adulting, having a job where I have the opportunity to learn so much, and a sweet puppy who is always excited to see me when I get home. (Although, I’m not always excited to see him, never knowing what he’s destroyed during the day.)  Regardless,  expressing gratitude for the things we take for granted helps you appreciate the details in life you might miss.

As far as my yoga practice goes, the next couple of days will be EXTREMELY gentle yoga and stretch to try to heal my neck.  Today’s practice consisted of more meditation, neck stretches, and shoulder rolls than anything else. But still well worth it. It always feels good to take the time to myself and alter my practice to better fit what’s going on in my life.  So my question to you is…  How has your practice changed so far this week? What are you grateful for?
