You arrive at your destination, the city you’ve been dreaming about and now what? Where should you go and visit? What are the top spots to visit in the city? Where are the cool places only locals generally know about? These are all questions you should ask yourself and find out BEFORE you actually arrive. My first time going to Amsterdam with Dennis was a super spur of the moment kind of thing. I was super excited to go and visit, but I had not planned it nearly well enough to know the top 5 places I would have like to see. I still had a great time, but it may have made the trip I bit more budget friendly, and we most likely would have been able to see more in our first time around. So here are my top tips on planning the sight-seeing portion of your trip.
1. Make A List of Your Top 10 Stop
To start off with you should do some research on the place you are going to visit! Doing your re-search is super important because it helps you figure out what the city has to offer, and can help you figure out what you might like to do while visiting, and most likely you will find out about an interesting sight that you would have never known about. Next, after researching, make a list of your top 10 spots you’d like to see in the city you are visiting, and then rank them from 1 to 10 with 1 being the top place you’d like to see! This will help you prioritize what you would like to see, and if you are traveling with a friends or a partner have them do this too and compare your lists!
2. Find Out How Much it Will Cost to Visit or Complete Your Top 10
This one is super important because not only do you want to figure out how much you need to save for, it’s also important because you do not want to be blind sighted by expensive museum ticket prices when you show up for a visit. So I’m sure you’re wondering, “how do I keep it budget friendly?” I know it can be tedious, but in the end it will totally be worth it, is too shop around online and compare prices. Compare how much the public, and private tours are, or the tours between companies. Read the reviews to make sure you are getting the best band for your buck! Of course there are going to be some cost you cannot avoid, for example there may only be one Art Museum in the city and it will cost what it is going to cost. At least if you do the research in the beginning you can plan and save for the sights you’d like to see.
Insider Tip: Sometimes the website pages to the sights you’d like to see are not in English. Download Google Chrome to translate the pages for you to save you a huge headache of copy and pasting into Google Translator.
